A day-long seminar on ‘Mobile Application Development and its Challenges in Bangladesh’ were held where MCC Ltd. presented the Key Note elaborating on the current scenario of Bangladesh Mobile Application Industry. Mobile phone advertisements, flow of outsourced jobs in Bangladesh and its contribution to the economy. Ratio analysis on revenue generation from the app industry, developers scope, subsidiary support for market expansion, global opportunities, capacity building and training, poor payment receivable system were discussed on. Main challenge for the mobile app industry was the inward remittance issue. Here the Bangladesh Bank Governor, Dr. Atiur Rahman was questioned on how the inward remittance could flow into the country since there are poor infrastructures for it. Also it was mentioned that though a high market demand for this industry but since the remittance tax rate is high, the developers tend to receive very less amount and thus are discouraged to incline towards the industry.
